I am scheduled for surgery 7/11 (Lucky right) :) I am so nervous but so happy I am almost there. Any advice for someone about to start a 3 week liquid diet?

Do you get to have one real meal or all liquid? I had to do Ensure and Boost Glucose formula for a week before but I was allowed a regular meal - I chose Breakfast because it's my favorite. Not going to lie, it was really hard! I only lost about 5 lbs pre surgery so obviously I didn't do well!

Hi! Well I’m scheduled (and a little scared) for my Sleeve on the 25th in Mexico. So many things going on in my head. Start my pre op diet tomorrow!! Does anyone use the patch Vitamins? I’m scared I won’t be able to tolerate the gummies.

Ok so originally the wanted me to do all liquid for 2 weeks because of some other health issues. But after some blood work came back I can actually have food. I'm so surprised. I can have egg whites, leafy greens, 4oz chicken breast or fish. no scratches, no butter, no salt. 1 greek yogurt and 1 cup of pineapple or peach chunks , sugar free Jello or popsicles. Absolutely nothing with sugar. Its hard because I am addicted to sweets. :) But I started a couple of days ago to get the hang of things. It's going ok a bit of a headache but I just down Water. 14 days and counting. xoxo

@HappyMode2018 sounds like you're doing well. my pre op diet is similar -and my surgery is the day before yours. I also started my diet early but did fall off the wagon early on. back on track now though and have been for two weeks now.

July 12th surgery here and on day two of pre op diet. 2 shakes and one meal, Snacks = 6oz fat free yogart or salad greens. Was worried early in week but just got approved yesterday from insurance and my surgery date was verified. Now I'm good to go and ready for this. Best of luck to all of you fellow July sleevers!!!

My surgery is July 18. My pre surgery diet starts two days prior. It is a full liquid diet. Protein Shake city! The day before surgery I get to take a boat load full of laxative too. WOOOOOO HOOOOO!

Its Happening to day guys pray this prayer for me

Heavenly Father, grant me joyful acceptance of the surgery which awaits me, and let this be the relief and cure which I seek. Make skilled the work of the surgeon and that of his team for it is unto their knowledge and skill that I give myself for healing. I pray to You, O Lord, that this procedure will be without complication, and that my recovery will be speedy and complete. Amen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
