Back pain after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done in June 5th. I am having major backpain specifically in my right lower side. Also my stomach feels so much more bloated now then even before and I know it can’t be weight gain since I haven’t eaten anything! Anyone else experience this?

Google kidney stone pain and see if that's where your pain is. Kidney stones are always possible and can be more likely if your Fluid intake is low. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Drink lots of Water. Watch out for kidney stone symptoms. And gallbladder symptoms.

Kidney stone attacks and gall bladder attacks are common after bariatric surgery.

If you had the sleeve just done then what you are describing is probably gas from where they blew up your stomach up. The only thing to alleviate that is to walk walk walk!

I had back pain but it was all over back pain and it was due to having a weak core and muscle compensation. And I felt it immediately after surgery.

i would call your doctor and inform him of your pain

5 days out of surgery... odds are it's just gas/swelling/the fact that you are still healing.

Hi @mschmeltz, 2+ weeks Post Op from VSG. Just wondering if you’re still incurring back pain? I’m struggling with mid/lower back pain for the last 4 days and curious what helped you if it has cleared up? Never really had Gas pain, I’m still struggling with a bit of stomach pain 15 days out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
