Pregnancy - 8 months post op

Recommended Posts

So totally not intentional (I have PCOS and literally never get a period) but I am 98% sure I may be pregnant. We do want kids and the main reason for me doing this surgery was to hopefully get rid of PCOS AND have a child. I have only bled twice since surgery, once with medication just to shed the lining which was about 2 months ago. Well I’ve been feeling crampy but no period so I decided to take a pregnancy test and it came back positive. I’m nervous because I did not intend or honestly think this would ever happen, let alone before the 12-18 month mark. My weight is still going down but at a low pace. I’m so scared that I’ll lose the child and also scared I’ll gain all my weight back. Has anyone else gotten pregnant with PCOS or before the 12-18 month mark? Also, I don’t need the lecture of getting pregnant. Unless you have PCOS and never get a period, you don’t know what it’s like in my shoes. I’m already super scared 😳😞

Congratulations! Sounds like your surgery was successful in making you more fertile. That's awesome.

You may be a high-risk pregnancy and I'm sure your doctor will watch your hormones closely, but you should be able to have a healthy baby. Best wishes!

I lost my first baby as well, ectopic pregnancy. I still grieve sometimes. And I was always a nervous wreck until the doc checked me out on the later pregnancies! Good luck!

You think you've heard about all my family, yeah the ones who put the D in dysfunctional, I have yet one more story. My Uncle Clement committed suicide at 31, a few years before I was born, And of all my father's siblings the one I resemble the most in appearance, I've seen, pictures.
Uncle Clement, when he was 10 and his little sister Mary was 2 picked up his father's squirrel gun with live ammo in it, pointed at Mary, said Bang Bang sissy, you're dead and killed her.
The rest of his life my grandmother, his mother missed. no opportunity to tell everyone how Clement killed his baby sister, resembling Chinese Water torture, drop drip drip until finally,he went outside of Newark Ohio to the top,of Horns Hill, put the barrel,of the gun into his mouth and you can figure out the rest. You grieve for your unborn yet loved baby, I grieve for,my Uncle Clement, who I never knew, in that whole dysfunctional family, might have been the person who might have loved baby Frust8. Although almost all of them were dark haired and medium toned Uncle Clement had dark auburn hair. Maybe he would have picked,me up, nuzzled my neck and said: "baby Frust8 I so love❤
you!" And the Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas,eat you up if You,let them!💦😩💦

I would have your doctor make sure your pregnant. I say this because I watch "my big fat fabulous life" and Whitney thore has pcos and thought she was pregnant and her pregnancy tests kept coming up positive even the one at her doctors office. It wasn't until they did a sonogram to find out there was no baby. I guess when you have pcos you can have false positives. But if you are pregnant congrats and what a wonderful blessing that would be. Let us know how you make out at your doctors appt and wishing you the best

I had pcos and in 2001, I had a miscarriage after numerous negative tests. I took metformin for years for it with no luck getting pregnant and this was before I had diabetes. Then I ended up have 3 kids back to back in 2010, 2011, & 2013. The last one my cousin has, whole nother story. And that was all before I had wls. I'm grateful I had a hysterectomy last year because I already know I would be a fertile myrtle. My Dr always told me a faint line is as good as a bright one. Keep us updated. Your life is not a show like "my big fat fabulous life". This is real and I hope the best for you.

I looked at your profile, if it is up to date, you are almost at goal. You should have no problem making it through pregnancy and losing that little bit of weight after. Look how far you have come!

As for miscarriage, that is an entirely different kind of pain. I have been there and still wonder what kind of person that baby would have been. Wanted to have a baby and had an angel instead. . . .

If you are pregnant make sure you have a good medical team that can support your unique situation. Then just enjoy the new little life inside you 🤗

Will be thinking about you! Keep us posted 💖

I’ve never had a positive pregnancy test unless I’ve been pregnant so pretty sure the reality tv show doesn’t really include me, plus I have functional cysts which are different than the type of cysts that cause false positives which is rare. I have my appointment on Thursday. I’m so nervous and cautiously optimistic. I am trying not to be excited because of my fear of miscarriage but I’m not going to lie I am excited!!!

Congrats and good luck! We hope to start trying for our second this winter. I will only be about eight months out, but should be close or at goal by then. 😀

I went to my appointment today. I’m 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I’ll be going more than a normal women because of the gastric sleeve and PCOS. I’m also getting an ultrasound on the 26th, they usually do it at 18 weeks but due to the high risk and irregular periods they are going to do it. Soooo hopefully this pregnancy goes full term, fingers crossed!!!

Wish you the best! Thanks for the update.

Good luck with your next appointment. Once you hear the heartbeat, the chance of miscarriage greatly decreases. 🤗

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
