Frustr8 7,886 Posted January 4, 2019 So how did YOU pick your surgeon, anyone else want to chime in?
starladustangel 270 Posted April 7, 2019 Insurance mainly. My insurance either covered CHI Franciscan which is about 12 miles from my house or Swedish Hospital which is 45 miles away. A lot of my coworkers have had WLS at CHI Franciscan since our health plan finally started covering it 2 years ago and had nothing but good experiences there and it was a more reasonable drive than Swedish. All the surgeons there are good from what I've heard so I just picked one and made an appointment after I'd done the seminar. I wasn't picky on which surgeon I saw and Dr. Anwar was able to get me in a week after my insurance approved the consult appointment. I'm pre op but my insurance just approved my surgery Friday. Briswife15 890 Posted April 7, 2019 My surgeon, and his whole team, practice at a bariatric center of excellence. Their approach is holistic, and they prepare patients every step of the way for success. I had other options, but went with my surgeon because of all this, his level of experience, and my confidence in his skills. Couldn't be happier.Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
NYJenn 1,463 Posted April 7, 2019 My doc referred me to a program that had two possible choices for surgeons. I was assigned one of them. I literally met the guy once before surgery 🤷🏼♀️ what he did is such a small part of my entire journey, I wasn’t concerned

He was one of two surgeons at the bariatric practice for my hospital. I also picked him because I wanted my surgery on my birthday and that was his surgery day. Frustr8 7,886 Posted April 7, 2019 so your surgery birthday and regular birthday are forever linked. I think that is pretty cool !
