apositivelife4me 189 Posted June 9, 2018 Has anyone eaten fresh cod or salmon during the 5th and 6th weeks post op? I just bought some fresh cod and salmon at the grocery store today. They are packed with Protein. Any thoughts?
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted June 9, 2018 Most fish fall under the "soft" or "mushy" food categories since they can be smashed with a fork. If you're cleared for that stage then enjoy! FYI, you might try the cod first. Salmon is a "heavier" fish (more oily) and is a little more difficult. 2 sillykitty and allwet reacted to this
YeahOkay31 651 Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) I have had both. Cod went down great. Salmon made me sick. Sat like a rock in my throat. Edited June 9, 2018 by YeahOkay31 2 Orchids&Dragons and allwet reacted to this
Jdesmond73 138 Posted June 10, 2018 I started eating fish 6 weeks out and it was easy to get down but Salmon (which I used to love) gives me unholy heartburn for some reason now
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted June 10, 2018 Salmon at a couple months out was tough. At six months out.....I put it on the grill every week. Yum!
sillykitty 10,780 Posted June 10, 2018 I don't care for salmon, but I ate a variety of white fish starting a few weeks post op, with no problem. 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this
apositivelife4me 189 Posted June 10, 2018 I threw up today after eating the cod. I have no idea why I threw it up. Was the fish bad? Can it damage the staple line when we throw up? 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this
sillykitty 10,780 Posted June 10, 2018 You just weren't ready for it yet. Don't worry about throwing up damaging your new stomach. It is a common occurrence early on. If it caused damage we would all be in trouble! 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this
apositivelife4me 189 Posted June 10, 2018 I wonder if the meat was bad.

apositivelife4me 189 Posted June 10, 2018 Yes I agree. i cooked it in butter with garlic and lemon. It tasted ok. But I agree with you that I ate it too fast or my stomach was not ready to receive it. 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this

They should just go ahead and call this the "trial and error" phase 1 Sleeved36 reacted to this
