I am having surgery on June 15th and would love to hear Lap Band surgery success stories. Also, what made you choose Lap Band over other weight loss surgery?

I’m having my surgery next Thursday, 6/28. How are you doing after surgery? I hope all is well. I’m a little nervous. My surgeon recommended the sleeve but that seemed so permanent and invasive. I know that is the popular surgery now but I couldn’t take that leap.

Hi guys - I’m having a lapband on 24th July! My surgeon wanted me to have the bypass but I felt the same as you - really permanent!!! It scared me a little! Also I can go Home the day after the lapband! How is everyone feeling?

I’m on my second day of the liquid diet. It’s not to bad when I’m working but I’m not sure how I will feel this weekend. I have a home office so I don’t have to worry about smelling other people’s yummy food at work. However, I have 3 boys so that’s hard during dinner time when they are home. They are older and always on the go now. (21, 18 and 15). My husband had been really supportive and tries not to eat in front of me. My surgery will be outpatient so I’m supposed to go home the same day. Nervous but Excited! I look forward to hearing about your journeys😄

It’s been a week since my surgery and really hasn’t been too bad. It was the easiest surgery that I have had. Now, having only liquids is starting to get hard. But, I know we all can do it!!

I had my band fitted on the 22nd of this month (so 3 days out). The surgery was easy. However still quite sore - but not 'needing' to take any analgesia. Going to try going back to work tomorrow (mostly sedentary job), but would still have liked another few days on hindsight.
Btw I had a band fitted over my bypass that I had done in 2013.
I've heard lots of good things about this combination of treatment so quite excited. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
