surgery in four days

I'm having surgery in 4 days, do I need to buy anything for my hospital stay?

There are TONS of topics about this.
You'll want a pair of sweatpants or PJ bottoms (The ladies advise a very soft bra if you feel you can wear one).
Lip Balm and Dry Mouth spray are very helpful when you come out of surgery.
Some slippers for when you have to walk around.
Your phone, charger and maybe a very long cable.
A pillow from home (for extra comfort and for the ride home to put between you and the belt)
I brought a book and never touched it.

Ear plugs and a blindfold were nice to have as well, wards can get noisy at night.

Congrats and good luck with your journey!

They sell it at any pharmacy, you don't need a huge bottle either, you can find small "breath freshener sized" versions.

I am too. I'm nervous that I'll be a failure. My surgery date is the 11th. As far as what to bring, just normal hospital stuff. Some people recommended gas pills, dry mouth mouthwash, comfy clothes, stuff like that!

peace of mind if you can find it on sale anywhere. :)

The ladies seem to have a list of must haves - like chapstick and a robe and extra clothes but for me if didn't want to see my butt checks close you eyes :)

grats and good luck hope you have a great recovery

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
