BigTex 62 Posted June 5, 2018 HEY ALL!!! It's BigTex checking in! Just hit my 200 pounds lost goal 1 month short of being A year post OP. I'm noticing that Im getting hungry FAST. And I'm not talking about after eating light meals. I'm talking Protein dense meals. Tilapia, baked chicken, curried turkey(it's a gem try it!) I'll get hungry again in about an hour and 30 minutes. Anyone else have this issue? What did y'all do to satisfy the beast? It almost feels like I'm constantly eating/drinking something with high protein. Is this normal? Did a old witch put a curse over me? Do I need to sacrifice a goat? HELP! 1 madscientistmommy reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted June 5, 2018 Are you still avoiding liquids during/after meals? 1 BigTex reacted to this
BigTex 62 Posted June 5, 2018 Are you still avoiding liquids during/after meals?I do for the most part. I say the most part because I will admit the time that I wait is usually less now. Probably around 15 minutes or so and I'll take a swig of Water or something. (Not gulps however) but usually I still try to maintain not drinking and eating with meals

Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted June 5, 2018 Even though the meals are high in Protein, do they have too many carbs? That could cause an insulin spike that could lead to hunger. 1 BigTex reacted to this
BigViffer 3,544 Posted June 5, 2018 I am surprised that you are hungry that quickly. I am over 3 years out now and when I eat my Protein post training (5-8 oz meat usually) I am not hungry for at least 2 hours. And sometimes not until I get home from work. If you are eating nothing but meat, how much are you eating? If it is only 2-4 oz, then I would say you are right where you should be. If you are mixing vegetable and meat, that would explain why you are getting hungry sooner. They just break down quicker. Again, just as it should be. oh - totally off topic, Tilapia is OK in a pinch, but it really is a garbage fish. If you can manage it, go for just about any other fish. Haddock or cod are my whitefish of choice just because of availability. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

I do know I have a sleeve on the "larger" side because I find that I can eat a bit more than my other friends who are sleeved. I never thought of that to be an issue since I'm basically scarfing down protein 24/7. But I do eat green Beans alot with alot of my Proteins as well. I can usually put down a little more than half a cup of food at an initial sitting. But all my concurrent meals are significantly less after that

I'm actually surprised that you only eat 1/2 cup of food. I would have thought by now you would be eating a cup or more. 1 BigTex reacted to this

(Ive done it on multiple good meals) just kinda limit myself because I'm always scared of the whole stretching your pouch thing....which Now that I look back on it may be why I'm having this problem? BigViffer 3,544 Posted June 5, 2018 Don't measure food by volume, go by weight. I have a digital scale at home, work, and if I'm at a retreat I'll ask them to weigh the meat. Don't care if it seems odd to them, it's important to me!Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling. 1 BigTex reacted to this

I'm not eating to full capacity per-say Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app I don't think 1-cup would be a pouch-stretching issue a year post-op. They always intend for you to be able to actually eat small meals after a while. At least, that's my understanding. If you're only eating 1/2 cup, that makes it almost impossible for you to get 4-6 oz. of Protein plus some veggies. Maybe you're eating too little and that's why you get hungry again so quickly. I think that's exactly what I'm doing eating too little, and I can be honest and also say I'm a rather fast eater (some things I see do not change[emoji30])Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this

I just know there is a mixed-bag on the website as far as portions. Some people aim to get to 3 meals a day, no Snacks. No way you're going to do that without a LOT of supplements on 1/2 cup of food at a time.
