Another 7/12'r here and feel the same. I see differences in my body but it definitely does not register. Weighed in at 283.2lbs this morning so down 1lb shy of 60 since surgery and 97 from highest weight. Happy with the results on weight loss so far and feel great physically. Wish my back issues would go away with the weight loss but that does not seem to be happening.

Congrats to you all on the success so far!!!!

Everyone is different. Some lose fast, some lose slowly. Have you discussed at your monthly followup with your surgeon? Talked with your nutritionist? Discussed at support group? Are you keeping hydrated? Eating 6 times per day? Our nurse said the weight loss is 80% diet, 20% exercise; in these first few months we should be getting 500-600 calories per day if you feel you must count calories, although they want us to just count Protein, which for me is 65-80grams per day. If your surgeon is happy with your progress, then try to relax and just work the program! I believe our bodies go into starvation mode and resist losing like the dickens. I was a basket case every time I would go into ADJUSTMENT MODE (stall) - had cravings, was moody, full of anxiety, weighed in every day... I've learned to relax, but now am transitioning to real food, which is a whole new challenge! Not sure I can get all my protein from food without supplemental protein. Time will tell.

July 16 surgery.... down 40 since surgery. Is that too little? healthy amount? I feel like I see other ppl numbers and its not enough but then I think I don't want to lose too quick...I want to be able to keep this off and i'm not going to starve myself either. I'm able to eat most things. I even make sure I walk atleast 3 miles a day and go to gym twice a week. My butt hurts to sit on because that extra padding is not there and i'm starting to see the flab and sag on me-ick. I also see myself as looking older on occasion. Fat is a natural filler so now my face is thinned out- i feel like I look older. Like many my clothes and scale tell the story but I don't see it. I still see flab. Body image issues I believe are common.... stay positive everyone. You can do this...slowly but surely

I believe the weight comes off as safely as it can. It was never about the weight going away for me, it was the Diabetes going away, and I'm still working on that one. I'm only down 45 lbs since surgery so we are almost the same. Keep on truckin'!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
