I’m posting again since I didn’t give that much information. I’m July 18th, sleeve, at Fort Gordon Georgia. I’ve been on my liquid diet for 10 days this far. I have cheated with egg drop soup... I find several doctors have different diet requests. No sugar for 10 days and that doesn’t bother we... what I want is a piece of chicken 🍗 😆 I started this process last February and had to go thru some things twice. It didn’t take me that long, I wasn’t emotionally prepared since my brother passed away unexpectedly in 2015. But now I’m ready 🙏🏼. I have to say I’m more nervous about the possible complications versus the meal/diet/ lifestyle changes. And I’m a RN did we over think 🤔 everything. I 🙏🏼 for positive outcomes for everyone and healthy healing... 😃

How are you doing 5 days out with eating? Any Constipation?

I’m only allowed to eat yogurt and pudding.. no bowel movements yet, just gas. I haven’t had real food since the 9th of July. I stopped taking my pain meds two days ago. I would love to eat something else but not allowed yet!!

That sounds normal, you being in the medical field. I overthink things, too, and plan obsessively. My surgeon required such a thorough pre-op process of clearances to get "vetted" that I feel very confident about the surgery and aftermath. The only thing I didn't have to go through was a Senate Confirmation Hearing! If you have confidence in your surgeon and hospital, you just have to surrender to faith. A fav quote: "Faith sees best in the dark." (by Kierkegaard). Let's do this, Liz. We've waited a long time for this and our moment is nigh. Tuesday for me, Wednesday for you. Got your go bag packed?

I'm amazed you can have yogurt so soon. I will be on liquids for 4 weeks before getting yogurt, applesauce, mushy stuff. All these plans vary so widely!

My bags will be packed today.. 😊 I’m working up until Wednesday... our process here with the military health system was systematic and had their requirements you must meet. I’m having my surgery at the hospital I work.. in more stressed about privacy than anything but requested myself non searchable in computer system. I do find a lot of doctors have different diet plans. I will have to be on liquid then full liquids then puréed over 4 weeks..

Don't overthink things and work yourselves up. I went to the hospital wearing a tshirt draws a pair of shorts and flip flops. In my bag I had powder (didn't use) Blistex (used) BioTene (used) toothbrush and paste (used) phone charger (used). Didn't need anything else. I slept 90% of the time and the rest was given to me. I had no worries or nerves. I just accepted the outcome would be whatever it was and think I had a better time because of it.

Good Luck to All of You!!!!

I’m definitely in the “over think everything” club. It’s either the nurse in me or the I’ve had this surgery yanked away from me twice thing. Anyways trying to relax and wait for Wednesday to get here. I did eat bacon a time or two on this diet but that’s my only cheat. Which is probably why I’m so nervous. I’m going to try and work Tuesday which is the all Clear Liquids day. I already apologized to everyone I work with ahead of time if I become a hangry B.

I am amazed at what all the various doctors recommended. It makes me wonder, what really is the best way? For my two week pre op diet, I was allowed cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese sticks, and applesauce.. Right now they want everything thinned with milk or a Protein Shake. That’s fine but I would like to chew something too. We have made creamy Soups too without chunks. I’m looking forward to July 24 so I can have canned chicken and canned tuna!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
