Did BCBS contact you or did you hear from your doctor?

No not from my doctor; I I harassed BCBS customer service twice a day for a status! Lol! I would call once in the morning and once in the afternoon! :) I was too anxious to wait for my doctor to contact me.

LOL! I thought about calling today and talked myself out of it bc I wasn't sure if they'd tell me. I have BCBS Carefirst. I think I'll call tomorrow. :)

My paperwork was submitted on the 13th and I still haven't heard anything. My doctor told me it would take two weeks.

Is it common for most doctors to put you in a preop liquid diet? I’m currently on my preop and I can have food. Granted it’s not much but it’s still real food.
I'm on day 9 of my pre op diet, and I'm allowed food as well, very limited I'll say, but it's working out for me. 3 shakes a day, 1 serving of fruit, veggie and starch a day, until day before and Clear Liquids. I guess it all depends on your doctor on what kind of diet, if any, you'll be on.

I am allowed three meals a day, 120g of tofu and as many low starch veggies as I like. Or I can have a Protein Shake. I'm in ketosis I'm sure, so it still works

Just got a call and my surgery is pushed back from July 24th until August 14th. Ugh. Bummer

My surgeon is a LT. COLONEL in the military and has training right after the original surgery date and he needs to be able to see me while I would be in hospital. Frustrating. So guesss I will be a August sleever. Haha

That sucks but at least your surgeon cares enough to follow through and be there for you. He could have passed your follow care onto someone else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
