My surgery was 3 months ago, I had the gastric sleeve and I'm still sick. I have to keep going back to soft diet. Will this ever end?

That's no good! Have you talked to your surgeon / surgical team about this yet? Have they checked for a stricture?

We're in the same boat. For now, I have given up attempting solid foods. I'm going to do a month of Soups then try again. I just feel too miserable whenever I try any solids except for fish. Can you handle ground meats? Over the weekend I made a white bean chili with ground chicken and mild seasonings that I tolerated well.

You should highly consider getting a Vitamix. There are so many AMAZING Soup recipes you can make. The prep work is virtually nonexistent. A lot of the recipes you could make without the Vitamix, and use a regular blender. The benefit of the Vitamix is that you can put raw veggies in without having to boil first, and it cooks it while mixing. If you do the extra leg work, then you can use the regular blender.

Have you tried soy meat? I love the Gardein brand. It tastes just like what it looks like, chicken, fish, ect.

Thanks, Ash. No, I haven't tried any of the soy "meats" yet. I'll have to check them out. I've got a stick blender, so that works really well with my Soups. Much easier/safer than transferring boiling hot liquids into a blender.

I also love using my Emerson blender.

I've noticed, I don't feel any nausea or discomfort when eating the soy meat. It's worth a shot.

I purchased a Baeba babyfood maker that steams and purées in same container. I’m n the puréed phase but can see using it well beyond for Soups. Perhaps something like this would make you life a little more convenient.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
