Seriously???

So, after my surgery (when I had already lost more than 50 pounds) and my husband had been complaining about how his weight was "stuck" (having trouble sticking to a healthy diet), we happened to stop in and visit some neighbors. They asked my husband if he had lost weight because he looked slimmer, but not a single word for the lady who actually DID lose weight, and a significant amount! Sheesh! I must be wearing a cloaking device!

That sucks! I'm sorry that they didn't recognize or mention your visible weight loss. This has been one of my fears...that I would be working really hard and going through a difficult surgical process, only for people to not see the results.

Why do you care about the opinion of other people on your weight loss or visible weight loss at all? You're not doing it for "the other people".

Btw, I wouldn't comment on another person's weight change myself. After all you never know why someone lost or gained weight.

Imagine someone going through major illness and people have nothing more to do than to comment on this "great weight loss". Ouch.

Maybe they didn’t want to say anything because most women don’t like comments about their weight. Whether they lose or gain. I would take it with a grain of salt.

And I am reminded of one of my Nursing Home ladies. She wasn't feeling too well so called her son's home, daughter-in-law came and set with her all day, mopped her fevered brow, cut her food up in small bits, all the good DIL type things. When joe stopped by after
work to check on Pearl, Pearl let out a shreech, Oh Thank God you're here, I've been alone ALL DAY! I don't know if I would have keep my temper in check as well as SO,ibut then maybe she was used to such shenanigans from Pearl.👩👵👨

Pearl reminds me of my ex-mother in law. Manipulative witch. She was my best friend when her son wasn't around but when he was, poor neglected and abused mommy dearest. Set me up over and over again. May she rest In peace.

Im thinking likely this lol. If you acknowledged ones weightloss then you are also acknowledging their fatness

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
