GreenTealael 25,439 Posted June 5, 2018 I use straws every day and discussed it with my team... 1 Wanda247 reacted to this
moondoggie1983 202 Posted June 10, 2018 I checked with my team, and at 4 weeks out they said straws are ok. 🤷♀️ I’m trying it for the first time today, and it’s going ok. I was also really nauseous today, so I’ve been allowed some watered down diet ginger ale. It’s crazy how different each program can be. 1 Wanda247 reacted to this
MedicVSG 30 Posted June 12, 2018 My program has no issues with straws or blended drinks. Actually the straw IN my blended drink allows me to avoid the foam.
MrsHTX 51 Posted June 13, 2018 No one ever told me I couldn't use straws either. I was using them within a week of surgery. No issues.
kimberlymi 113 Posted June 13, 2018 My program would take away every straw in the world if they could. Every class we have it is brought up by the Nut and PA at least 5 times each. As for the blended Protein Shakes if you make them in advance and let them set it reduces the bubbles a lot. I use my small cup blender and transfer it to a shaker cup so I can still mix it up good after it sets.
Sallymarina70 5 Posted June 13, 2018 My surgeon saus straws are ok 😊 I find it much easier to get down my liquids with it.
MedicVSG 30 Posted June 25, 2018 Kimberlymi- That’s disappointing to hear. There is no literature to support that.
SleeveinIL 386 Posted June 25, 2018 I was told it was okay to use straws again and have been. Seems to make it easier for me to consume all my Water requirements. 2 TakingABreak and Wanda247 reacted to this
jess9395 5,449 Posted June 25, 2018 Here in California they are moving towards no plastic straws and even lids in lots of areas! Because of the environmental issues. We were at Knotts berry Farm last week and they have no lids or straws anywhere unless you buy the reusable cup. Our local area keeps straws behind the counter and you must ask for them (local law, they will next eliminate them entirely). We were the first area to make disposable plastic bags illegal for grocery stores and the first smoking ban too.
Buonnatale 22 Posted June 25, 2018 I bought and iced coffee about a week and half after surgery. Not thinking, I took two sips out of the straw and immediately felt my stomach inflate. It took me a couple seconds to realize what I did... needless to say, I learned my lesson lol
