Thank you I hope this left side pain goes away. I'm a side sleeper and I have to sleep on my back so my sleep cycle sucks.

Omg I was the same we had to go buy a recliner the first night back from the hospital it’s no joke you can’t sleep in bed. Unless you have a incline bed base. I tried pike the pillows and bought more nope nothing worked.

Now I live in the recliner in a giant pillow nest it’s a super wide and comfy one.

RNY on June 27th, terrible left side pain and was also sent home with a drain which is gross. Can’t really get comfortable in any position. My daughters went to a grad party today that was catered by olive garden, the host sent them home with 25 breadsticks, a large pan of fettuccine alfredo and a dish of marinara sauce. How sad is it that I was heartbroken, I wanted that food more than the surgery I was just blessed to have. This is going to be a wild journey.

Hang in there it will get easier. The best thing I can suggest is eat your meal with others around you. So when they are eating you are to. Much easier. If they have fettuccine Alfredo then you fix something like fettuccine cauliflower Pasta. It does get easier.

Hi! So we're in July and we've officially all made it through our surgeries! PHEW & YAHOO! I lost 12 on pre-op, gained 10 in hospital and then lost all that plus 4 more by the time I reached today (1 week from surgery). So, I'm down a total of 16. Eating and drinking is near impossible. I'm getting hardly anything in because I'm so full. I'm sure every day will get better. CONGRATS to all!

Hey there. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks and down 14 lbs. Tolerating food well so far, no nausea or vomiting. Trying to get Protein and fluids in. Still occasional incision pain on either side but taking it day by day!

I have that side pain too I think ice helps (I press in on the muscle that is cramping not too hard but it helps the spasm. I have to sleep on the couch with my head and upper body angled up or a reclining chair for that reason. You are not alone. I hear it will pass just not sure when. Doctor said that pain is normal because they put a long straw like tube in there during surgery and move it all around. It upsets muscle and nerves. It should get better. Heat might help too. Hang in there June bug :)

Nice to hear everyone's updates on here. Sounds like we're all losing, trying to keep hydrated and dealing with the left side pain. Every day gets better! I'm wearing a dress today to work. It's been like 9 or 10 months since I've worn a dress. I feel great (aside from a kidney stone that I'm trying to pass).

Hi all from down under. Doing well here. Left side is still niggling at me, but has eased considerably. Still not getting all my fluids in. Handling the food. Moving onto soft foods today. Losing weight, at least .5kg a day, but told that it should only be 1kg a week. So hope I am not losing muscle as well. It is meant to be a slow progress. Stalled for 3 days on 100kg, when I so wanted to get below. Now below at 97.6kgs. My only problem is I haven’t done number two for a few days, so now adding benefibre to Cereal and taking softener. Not sure if this is why I have a little pain in back. Haven’t needed any diabetic meds since op. Glad to hear others are progressing reasonably well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
