Guest mojjs Posted January 24, 2005 I have UHC. It took several months for me. They said they didn't receive anything from my doctor, they were processing it, they thought I didn't meet the criteria. I was borderline but anyway it took some talking. My surgery was done more (but definitely not only) to fix other issues. I found that calling often helps. My husband kept on them because the doctor said the "C" word (cancer) and it scared him. Stick to them like super glue and demand answers, you are the customer. Guest tara Posted February 6, 2005 hi everyone, i am new to all of this. i have uhc and i called them to see if it would be approved and that told me absolutely not. am i not asking nicely enough?
Guest mojjs Posted February 6, 2005 Tara, They have to have paperwork from your doctor and you have to meet certain qualifications. Even then they are sometimes reluctant. If the surgery is needed see a qualified surgeon and get the documentation to get sent in. My doctor's office did the paperwork and sent it in for me. We just had to keep on them over the phone to keep it going. I am fairly new to this also so chime right in and ask away that is how you learn. Mo
daisydoodle 0 Posted February 6, 2005 It all depends on what kind of policy that your company holds with UHC. I have UHC and was approved without any problems. But my husband's employer's policy DOES cover bariatric surgery. You need to speak with your company's benefits manager and get more information from them..... Good Luck!
