Hugs

I was really lucky, but everything I read and prepared for was:

1. Walk, walk, walk

2. Gas medication from the chemist

3. Peppermint tea

4. Hot packs

5. Some soluble pain relief - I used panadol soluble.

Good luck, and I hope you get past it soon

I was banded on Monday No 5th, 2007 and I also have gas.

I had tums,I walk and I also had peppermint tea. That really helps.

I had a weird feeling this afternoon. I had some bubbles on the left side of my belly botton and it would make funny sounds and move like their was an alien in me...LOL

I just made a papaya shake with fat free milk, whey powder, and splenda. It's yummy....

The whey powder from the Vitamin shop is a caribbean flavor with pineapple and cocounut. I froze the rest to eat it as Ice Cream another time.

GasX Strips - Kept them with me for a couple of days, I love them, worked really, really fast! No more gas for me!

teeny - "DeGas" tablets work really, really well. You can buy them at the supermarket (where the bandaids, panadol and Vitamins are.) or the chemist whichever is easier.

I used them after my appendix op, and now after being banded and they are really a life saver.

I hate "herbal" tea, and what little I could get down - peppermint tea did nothing for me.

Walking does help too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
