zallykatz16 56 Posted May 28, 2018 Hi all, Its been a long time since I wrote in here. Im 8 months out and have lost about 70-75 pounds. I feel stuck and my will power has gone out the window. this happened when I went back to work full time. I am back to using food to make me feel better. I am also drinking diet coke. So I need some help to get back on track. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Zallykat16
Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 1,004 Posted May 28, 2018 Hey @zallykatz16 Sounds to me like you know what you need to do! If you chuck the Diet Coke (I drink fizzy Water - with a dash of apple juice, or cranberry, or lime juice). And trim the carbs. You’ll have a couple of tough weeks, but remember all those yummy proteiny foods. Halloumi! Salmon! Whatever rocks your boat. Takes a couple of weeks for the ‘I need sweet stuff’ to wear off again - I notice if I have Diet Coke, my craving for other sweets just steps up. Or - go full drastic and repeat your post op diet - liquid phase, purée, soft food. Many report that works. Kebep coming back here. Lean for support, front up, be honest, get on track..... Kimber628 31 Posted May 29, 2018 You are still in that perfect honeymoon period where you can turn this around!! I had the sleeve in 2014 and I did great. I got lower than my goal, but then life got hard. I ate “slider foods” as they feel better going down than dense Protein. I became obsessed with frozen coffees that are full of sugar. I hurt my neck and I had an ovary removed, the other tied, and had major hormonal changes. Boom, 40 pounds back on. It’s a struggle!! I am converting to bypass due to damage from severe reflux, not the weight gain. I am also looking at it as another chance to do it right. I refuse to fail. Matt Z 4,139 Posted May 29, 2018 You could do the "reset" (doing the pre-op diet again). Are you still paying attention to your intake? Are you working out beyond whatever you do in your normal day to day? As we lose weight and get older, our Basal Metabolic Rate (the amount of calories we burn just existing) drops, so what got you to lose those 70+ lbs, isn't quite going to cut it any longer. I'd say get back to focusing on what you SHOULD be eating and drinking, make sure you hit those Protein and Water requirements and start doing some exercise at least 60 mins a day! Count your intake, make sure you are expending more calories than you are consuming and you should start to see some progress again! Good luck! It's a long haul marathon with lots of surprises and set backs... but as long as you stay focused and get back up, you'll be just fine. You got this!
