Gassy stomach discomfort question

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 6 days ago and really the last bit of real discomfort I am feeling is a gassy stomach/sleeve. When I have to burp it is very uncomfortable at what I assume is the top of my sleeve. It doesn't take much gas and the burp is more like a tiny creaking sound for a few seconds as a series of small bubbles works its way out. Eating or drinking normally brings it on and often I will have to stand up to get the "burp" going.

Does anybody know if/when the discomfort subsides or goes away and if gas x will help with that as it is probably due to me swallowing small amounts of air rather than my body generating the gas?

GasX will help, so will using your incentive spirometer. Take a nice long slow deep breath in, hold it and press into it slightly so you can feel the pressure build a bit, then slowly let it out. This helps compress the gasses that might still be in you from the surgery and force them into the blood for processing. I used this trick for my band back in 2011 and again for my bypass in March. Really does help.

The Incentive Spirometer is that something that all patients will use? I haven't heard of this yet. Do I need to purchase it?

You should be given one at the Hospital post surgery, and I do believe everyone gets one. I got one back in 2011 when I had the Band installed and I got another one in March when I was revised to the Bypass.

And just like that this has pretty much stopped. I am super happy now I feel like I am 95% back to normal already and dropping weight like crazy. I am so surprised how quickly I have recovered from this surgery.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
