Sleep question for post op.

Recommended Posts

How much sleep is too much sleep? Or when should it be concerning?
I'm 4 days post op and I can't get enough sleep it seems like.

I was the same way. Our bodies are healing and we need to allow it the time needed. Make sure you're walking as much as possible.

I’m 15 days out and still get tired easily. My friends who have had other surgeries tell me this is normal.

All I did was sleep basically until like 8 days post op. I can still go for a daily nap though.

I was going to sty out of work for a week. I extended it to two weeks due to being tired. After surgery our bodies are healing and add that we usually consume only liquids right after surgery, well we do get tired.

I slept so much in the first week after my surgery, I think I finally caught up on all the missed sleep from having my daughter years ago lol. It’s been 1 1/2 months and there are days I still get tired. My dr said it was normal.

There is no such thing as too much sleep, only too little.
Rest for as long as you need, whenever you need and don't be too concerned about it, you'll be fine!

I wish. I was sleeping in 3 hour increments. I got a sleep aid from the doctor yesterday. I slept like the dead last night (but felt like I’d been on a week long bender) and today I finally feel almost normal.

I am in what some doctors assess as the Golden Years of my Existence, I usually consider it Brass***, at any rate,we tend to sleep in 3-4 hour increments. The males in my generation have prostate disease, me,maybe lessened iurinary capacity, maybe streets or overflow in' contience. I often ask myself" Well I'm up anyway, is there anything I should do?"So I watch overnight TV, a vast wasteland if even there was, vacumn, dust or post on Bariatric PAL, I'M sure me friends in NZ and Australia think I never sleep.
Answer I do sleep, just not very often or for very long at a time.
Mayhaps when I have my surgery and the weight diminishes, I'll sleep longer periods of time.. Je ne sais!

You need the sleep to heal and you body doesn't have the energy it normally gets from food. Sleep if you need it, try to walk and stay active when you are awake.

I was very tired after my surgery also. It wasn't until soft foods week 4-5 that I felt more energized and started working out. I napped on and off throughout the day, but I never slept during the day for more than an hour. Its important to get up and move around to avoid blood clots. Also, if you are sleeping, you aren't hydrating. Sleep is important, but as long as you balance it with activity and fluids.
