Insurance has Until FOREVER???

Recommended Posts

That's right. Until Forever.

That's what my insurance told me. They have "forever" to decide on an appeal that I sent in on 10/08/07. Is that right? She said they have sent to the company I work for to see if they will pay for an outside agency to review and that they have for FREAKIN' FOREVER!!!! I"m SOOOO ;).

If anyone has ANY advise, please :help:.

I feel your pain. If we were substance abusers I doubt they would make us wait forever. It's discrimination and it isn't fair.

I'm waiting for pre determination. It's been sitting in their office for 4 weeks and they are too busy to even look at it or enter it into their database so that their own customer service department can see that it's there. ARRRRRRRRR

doesn't it make you sick? but what else can we do but wait. I have seriously thought about going to Mexico to get it done. Everything I have read seems very legite. We'll see.

Keep me updated on your progress and I"m gonna keep raising heck with insurance folks.

Depending on the state you are in, the carrier may have a statutory limit on how much time they can take to decide on a precert request. If any carrier said that to me, I'd call the state insurance department and find out what the law says.

Forever. feh. :)

Thanks for the info, but how would I contact the state insurance dept? I'm in Texas. Just google it or something?

Anyone have Medical Claims Services?

What's this?

You can also call the Insurance Commissioner for the state. I know that insurance companies don't like having that call made as it is a bad mark against them. Ask about the turnaround time to give yeh or neh and your recourse.

Insurance companies win...if we as individuals don't stand up for our rights. If we did pay them, they wouldn't be in business......We are the Client.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
