Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever done labs and the h pylori be positive? If so can the gastric sleeve still be performed?

I was h pylori positive many years ago. I was treated with antibiotics and had no issue getting my surgery 3 months ago.

I took the two VILE antibiotics or 10 days and then started the preop diet, then surgery. The pills are bitter, take with a sip of milk, and I was sensitive to one of then - made my ears ring horribly and had dark urine - just be aware.

Hi, like many people here, I did test positive. I did the round of antibiotics and the surgeon I was working with also had me scooped. The check required me to check in for a procedure, I was put under twilight sedation and a scope was inserted to check for ulcers. It all came back clear and I, on my own, started eating yogurt with Probiotics afterwards. Above all, don't worry!

All this is good to know! I am on my third day of the antibiotics. I didn’t even have symptoms of h pylori, so I guess it is good to find and get cleared up.

I also had it and didn’t know. Took the awful antibiotics and had my surgery a month later.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
