The New Addition

Recommended Posts

Hi: I have not been through the operation yet but am seriously considering it. I am bordering on obese and I am getting concerned about it. My current weight is 230lbs which I am trying to reduce but it is a struggle. My ideal weight for my height, age and build is 150lb so, I have a way to go.

I need more information on this procedure and would welcome any suggestions. I do have a few questions

1. What is involved in the filling process and can it be done anywhere?

2. Has anyone had any complications with the procedure?

3. What is involved in the aftermath of the procedure....do you have to diet or does the physiology kick in that lets you know you are not hungry?

4. I am from Alberta Canada.. has anyone had this procedure done in Alberta or Canada? If so what are the costs involved.

5. Has anyone been to the Monterrey Mexico clinic...I am told that the experience is positive. Would I be better off at a Canadian clinic or a Mexican clinic?

6. Do I have the lapband for life or do I remove it at some point...if I do remove it, will I get fat again?

I have done some research so far but would like my questions answered by real people and not by the clinics. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
