MedicVSG 30 Posted May 24, 2018 Hi all. So when I sleep I toss between my back and side. I’m 2 days out and it really hurts to both toss and then if I can get on my side the pulling aches like crazy. I’m thinking about just sleeping in my lazy boy but really want to be in bed. Ideas? 1 Matt Z reacted to this

Ideas?I just had to push through it. I was sleeping on my side by day 4-5... even though it was a bit sore I did it anywhere because Surgeon never said not to. MedicVSG 30 Posted May 24, 2018 Thanks for that! Will probably do the same.
RHCD 241 Posted May 24, 2018 I was in the same boat. I propped myself up some which helped keep me not tossing and turning. It kinda helped but every now and then I’d feel a tweak.
maddysmommy 6 Posted May 24, 2018 I was sleeved on Monday (5/21) I am also a side sleeper but that has been impossible. I have been sleeping on the recliner. It’s easier to get in and out of. Best of luck to you. 1 MedicVSG reacted to this

I'm a side/stomach sleeper. The first 4 or 5 days I slept with a bunch of pillows stacked against the wall by my bed so I could sleep up right. I slowly transitioned to my side. By maybe day 8 or 9 I had no pain laying on my side and by 2 weeks i was sleeping on my stomach again.

That's not a bad idea overall, if you can't find a position to lay in without issue. I missed the hospital bed the first few nights for this very reason. It does get better! sillykitty 10,776 Posted May 24, 2018 I'm a side sleeper as well. I found a pillow wedged halfway under my side, halfway hugging it took the pressure off my incisions and I was able to sleep.
Bryn910 519 Posted May 24, 2018 I am a left side sleeper & belly sleeper; I am unable to sleep in either positing. I can only lay on my right side for about 2 hours. I have resorted to sleeping on my couch which gives me support at my back while laying on my right side and I sleep more comfortably on my back on the couch versus the bed. Sometimes I will start sleeping in my bed and then transition to couch in middle of the night
madscientistmommy 124 Posted May 24, 2018 Hug a pillow. I’m about 2 weeks out and that helped me. Taking my Tylenol helped too.
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted May 24, 2018 I'm a side sleeper, too. I don't toss/turn much, but I sleep best on my side. After surgery, I was unable to sleep on my side for about 2 weeks. And not for lack of trying either. I didn't have pain, per se. It sort of felt like my guts were shifting. It was uncomfortable and had me worried, so I couldn't sleep. During those 2 weeks, I slept propped up with pillows. I didn't like it and I didn't sleep well, but it passed.
