July Gastric Bypass?

Recommended Posts

My surgery was 7/31/18 n I feel like a failure. HW 309 SW 292 CW 237. Have been fluctuating between 235 n 240 since Dec. I’m sticking pretty much to diet n 3 wks ago started working out 3 days a week n still no change. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Simply frustrated n feeling like a failure. Got so angry at myself so I self sabotaged n ate 2 glazed 7-11 donuts after dinner n then ate 1 cup of spaghetti w zoodles. I knew what I was doing was wrong but felt like it didn’t matter because I can’t seem to lose anymore weight anyway. I’m simply lost.

Maybe you’re gaining muscle from working out, try meeting with your nutritionist... don’t be so hard on yourself.. slow n steady wins the race

T don’t be too hard on yourself, you’ve noted that your lost and looking for help. My suggestion would be speak to a therapist to find out why old negative behaviours are returning, I’ve had moments like this too. Also if your on Facebook there are lots of Bariatric support groups, also there is a reset diet which is basically resetting the pouch with two days of liquid like we did right at the beginning, look for this on Facebook for what to follow and as nutsesmiley80 said, speak to your nutritionist. You can get back on track! Exercise takes time as you need to work on building muscle, the scales don’t move but your body changes shape. More muscle mass burns fat more efficiently. It’s a journey not a quick fix. Stay strong and reach out to your team

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
