Hey everyone! I’m 6 days post op and normally I am the furthest thing from an emotional person but I have noticed I have become such a crybaby. I can’t watch sad commercials, movies, and I can’t even listen to music because I will start crying. I don’t know if it’s my depression because I’m on medication for it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Quite a few people have experienced this. They usually pinpoint the hormonal changes from the surgery as the problem.

Yes! It’s normal to get depressed and moody after any surgery. WLS made me super emotional and hormonal. You can also expect messed up periods.

Does this happen to older women? I had a partial hysterectomy and my hormone levels tested positive for menopause. Just curious what to expect. I don't want to cry:(

If you want to cry, cry! You just permanently altered your body. You just forever changed your relationship with food. You're changing the person you see in the mirror. I know I cried too. You are not alone.

As the late Lesley Gore said back,in the early 60s
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you.
Very Prophetic, wasn't it?

Crying is totally normal. I cried everyday for the first week after surgery and had regrets but now 9 weeks out and no regrets and no longer crying lol

I'm extremely unstable emotionally right now. I don't now if it's hormonal, situational, anti-depressant not absorbing correctly, or a mix of all of these. You're not alone. We're here for you. :780_sparkling_heart:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
