6 months of fear and self doubt

Recommended Posts

How did/do you deal with the 6 months of waiting and weigh in? Its sending my anxiety through the roof. I usually sorry myself by planning and researching it preparing. But I can't lose weight or I don't qualify. I already scheduled all of my tests and appointments so now I'm just here... Spinning wheel and feeling anxious that I won't be approved, that i won't be successful.l, that I'll fail. How to do I handle 5 more months of this?

Take this time to address your anxiety. Therapists, meditation, articles, books, possibly medication.

Your profile says you life in California, like I do. Marijuana is legal here & has helped with my anxiety & PTSD tremendously. I don't want to make this a post about pot - I'm just pointing out you have options.

Good luck. You are not alone.

Thank you, yeah I'm trying to read some meditations books to calm down. I can't do pot, I have a weird genetic thing that makes me react very poorly to cabinoids, which I found out the hard way lolol. I need to learn patience and accept that I can't control this situation.

I think the meditation is a good idea, and I know it was helpful to me.

Even though you do not want to lose weight during this period so that you can qualify for surgery (assuming you have a borderline BMI), you could also take this time to really practice mindful eating, which will help after you have surgery, and focus on any other behavioral or mental blocks to eating well and taking very good care of yourself. I wish you good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
