Bariastic, MyFitness Pal or other app?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just got my date, Tuesday, June 5. I've been doing a lazy version of Keto as my pre-op diet until now and have not been tracking my food, but I certainly will starting doing so the day after surgery. I know that Bariastic and MyFitness Pal are two of the most popular apps for food and activity tracking. However, are there any apps that store your information on the web and also have websites that allow you to enter all of your information as well? I love my phone, but I spend most of my time on a computer and it would be much easier for me (and my eyes) to be able to enter everything through a website as well as a phone?

The lose it APP is what I used post-op and since my surgery. It has a large food database and I love it. I have also tried My fitness pal and found it not as user friendly as LOSE IT. I installed and am using Bariastic for the reminders only.

I checked out both MyFitnessPal and LoseIt, and the annoying part is that both require subscriptions for the features I want. I'll stick with the free version of MyFitnessPal for now. Thanks for the help.

One more update: MyFitness Pal doesn't track Fiber or net carbs, even in the paid version. Total waste of time for me.

Chronometer has worked well for me when I was doing a Keto diet because it keeps track of Macros and Micros. Large food data base and also tracks Vitamin. No liquid tracking though.

I like Baritastic. It keeps track of Fluid intake, carbs, fat and Protein. It keeps track of weight loss and inches lost. They email me stats when I request them. And I have yet to scan something that doesn’t come up immediately. And if I ever do have that problem, it’s easy to input the stats quickly. And it syncs with my Fitbit, which is nice for me. It doesn’t track the macros and micros though, so if you’re looking to do that, another app or site is probably better for you. I haven’t tried the Chronometer one, but for me, I just really like Baritastic.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
