Hey all,

I've lost about 200 lbs in my WLS journey (first lap band, then revised to gastric sleeve) and back in 2015 had a lower body lift and arm lift.

As I've since gender transitioned, I am now looking to have breast augmentation as well as a bra line lift to remove the excess skin on my back. Not sure if that's the same as an upper body lift / back lift?

Has anyone had any experience with this procedure? It seems pretty uncommon in relation to how many people deal with loose skin around their backs.

Thank you!

I haven't had my surgery but I'm concerned about lose skin on my back. Is this something covered by insurance? Sorry I asked a question with a question but I'm sure someone ready this will have an answer for you. [emoji5]

My mom had a breast reduction a few years ago. She wasn't overweight, but had very large breasts. As a result, she also had "side boob" which was removed by her plastic surgeon along with the breast reduction. What she thought was "back fat" was actually breast. She looks a lot smaller around than she used to. I imagine they used liposuction to get that side area.

Hope that helps.

I'm transgender so I technically didn't even have breast tissue when I was losing weight (I have a considerable amount now but not as much as I would like, plus the back skin is both upper and lower) - this is probably true for most though!

I know with my lower body lift (tummy tuck/outer thigh/partial butt lift) and arm lift were not covered by insurance but I believe they did cover the hospital stay.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
