I’m in Dallas! I have surgery on June 6th and I am self pay. My total is $10,000 all inclusive. Only thing not included is post op labs but that’s if I need them. But it includes surgeons fee, anesthesia, hospital fee, pre op labs and one year of follow up visits and nutritionist visits.

Thanks for your response! My current weight is 190 lbs i am also 5ft 2in. Do you mind sharing your surgeons info. It is costing me a lot to have this in NY. I am also very anxious about the procedure. Your date is coming very soon. I'd love to hear about your experience.

Oh we we are close in size too. So yes I don’t mind keeping you updated. My doctor is Dr. Brian Long if the Nicholson Clinic. Dr. Nicholson is well known and all of his team including my doctor charge between $10-12k for self pay. If you have no health issues then it’s the $10k.

I paid $9000 in Ft Lauderdale with Bariatrix, FL. Most places I talked to in the US do not include preop testing. I had to have ekg, bloodwork and a psych consult, but my insurance covered all of that. My experience was wonderful.

Dr Taggar and Dr Wizman are part of Bariatrix, FL. Dr shillingford is also at the same hospital and has a great self pay price.

Dr Umbach at Blossom bariatrics in Las Vegas also has a great self pay program.

All of these will probably require a hotel room either for your companion, or a night before/after. If you truly want all inclusive, look into Mexico. At first, it sounds scary, but once you review testimonials it sounds better than the US. Plus, preop testing and hotels are normally included. Overall, it's a great option.

I Used Dr.Michael Choi in ft.lauderdale and paid $12,000 plus stress test $350 to get my surgery done but I was also removing my lapband might be cheaper for just the surgery. I did not stay at the hospital checked out 2 hours after surgery and recovered at home.

Financed 9,000 worth of the surgery for 36 months at $315 a month no prepayment penalties

Good luck

I went with Dr. Illan & BariatricPal in Tijuana. I had RNY but for the sleeve I think it’s somewhere around $4,500? It gives the exact price on their website. That includes transportation from San Diego airport & accommodations.

I used Dr. Leslie miles in Birmingham, AL. I was very impressed with the whole process. I only had to go to 2 appointments pre-op and they get self pay patients on the books pretty quickly. I think I had surgery less than 2 months post my first appointment. Regardless of where you have it done, you won’t regret it! Best decision of my life. I’m down 46 pounds since mid. February and feel wonderful!

Radical idea, and I know of someone who did this. Quit job or otherwise become unemployed. Get rolled into state Medicaid. Go through 6 months plan, surgery, get new job. Free surgery.

10-12 self pay? My itemized hospital stay sent to insurance was $34k in an average cost of living state. Why such a difference?

I am tentatively scheduled to have my surgery on April 9th. I am using Dr. Mark Pleatman in Bloomfield Hills, MI. (https://www.drpleatman.com/weight-loss-program-alternate.htm). Here is a link to his self-pay program. You can also look at his pre/post op plans for surgery.

Best of luck to you!

I was on *** insurance and switched to PPO insurance to ensure that I got the surgery if that helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
