Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems

Recommended Posts

I nearly PB'd last night. Had to stop eating dinner, but later I was able to get down a good amount of junk food. WHAT? Why the heck would I eat junk after all I've been through. I'm so tired of the power food has over me. I hate food.

Well, as usual, I am late to this thread! Lisa, I am so sorry the news was not better. I hope you get to prove Lopez's theory of rejection wrong. If anybody can do it, you can!!! I am really curious as to why your body has decided to reject it, though... Get well soon!

Blossom, I've been being rejected my entire life, so this was no surprise! I'm acting like it's fun to reject your band, this way I won't crack up. Now, if I can only put the thing to good use while I have it, but nooooooooooo, junk food fell down the pie-hole last night in large amounts. Even PIE fell into the pie hole!

Well, I'm just glad you didn't come back with some story about a drive-by or being in a gang with your gunshot wounds...I'm glad you got such great care as long as you have been waiting for it. You are back in the ballgame now!! Good Luck!!

Yep, I'm up to bat. I hope when the wound heals I'll be able to concentrate on giving up my nightime munchies. Kim, you are doing amazing!

Lisa, I am hoping that you beat the odds, and you are able to keep your band forever. I haven't posted for a while, I've been too busy NOT losing weight! I do check in from time to time to see how all my band buddies are.

Best wishes to you girl.

I was wondering what you were up to... hmm, sounds like mixed news. Yeah, at least you have an explanation, which is better than not knowing. Too bad the explanation SUCKS! Your one-day-at-a-time philosophy ("just for today, I have a band/tube/port"), combined with all the support you're getting and your own inner strength, will help see you through. We are all rooting for you. Glad Lopez seems to be cleaning up his act, too.

PS: I know what you mean about the pie hole. I can eat platesful of pie, but a single bite of a hard-boiled egg chewed like mad gets stuck!

What's up with the healthy food struggling to go down, while the goodies slide down like buttah? Geeze, can't anything be easy?

Good to see you, Neicy, it's been awhile.

If anything, I'm relieved that I have answers. It was scary and lonely walking around with a tube sticking out of me, that's for sure.

I haven't even mentioned the wobbly weirdo scar I have now. It's got a peanut at one end and a hole at the other. But better a scarred belly than a flabby one? The wound was still open and draining like mad as of yesterday. Today it's closed over, but I can feel her ready to blow.

It's such an awesome feeling when I log on and see new people that say they've been following my posts. Thank you! It has been a long journey, and it's not over yet. I wish like anything that I can keep my band, but I have to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best. Here's a picture of what my wound looks like today. It's really been through a lot (3 surgeries already.) It closed up yesterday but just sprung a little leak. If it closes, I'll be thrilled. Peace.

Hahahaha! Donali..

Wow, Lisa, that's not looking bad at all. Girl, I'm gonna be sending up extra prayers that this time is a charm for you. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you!

As ugly as it looks, it looks better than it has in 8 months! Thank you girls, really... where would I be without you?

Donali, Chris says, "All pie's good, some's better than others, but it's all good."

Thanks for the pie!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
