SallyH 20 Posted May 19, 2018 My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for Thursday, 5/24. While I’m so exited, I am a little nervous. Any advice for this newbie?
Blondietex 37 Posted May 19, 2018 I’m scheduled for the 23rd. I’m just making lists and preparing as best I can - have my Protein water/drinks/powder, making Bone Broth and sf jello/popsicles with protein, made a protein/liquid/vitamin daily checklist, cleaning fridge and house, etc. I already culled my closet to organize it by things that soon may not fit, things that can work for awhile and things that I hope may son fit again. I’m also trying to get things at work organized so I won’t feel any need to check in for at least a week. This is keeping me busy so I don’t start to worry or stress. I still can’t believe how close it is to the day. 3 Taoz, SallyH and teddynola reacted to this
bdroubay 13 Posted May 19, 2018 I am scheduled for 5/23. I’m also keeping busy. Cleaning the house. Making food. Double checking supplies. Hitting the gym a few more times. Anything to keep busy and keep my mind off of it. 3 laurileet, Taoz and SallyH reacted to this
Charlisnewchapter 10 Posted May 19, 2018 I was sleeved on 4/10. About week before surgery, I started to make a list of everything that I wanted to bring to the hospital. What pair of PJS, chargers, pillow, blanket, etc. The day before, I packed using the list I made. I also made a list of all the movies/shows that I wanted to catch up on, so when I got home, I didn't have to search. A few days before, I went to the store and bought everything I needed after surgery. Bottle waters, Protein Shakes, Jello, any house hold items I needed, etc. You'll be fine. No need to be nervous Just prepare everything before! 3 Taoz, Frustr8 and SallyH reacted to this
SallyH 20 Posted May 19, 2018 Thanks for all the advice. I’m preparing as much as I can as well. I even took the day off before surgery day in case I need to run any last minute errands. Excited! 2 Taoz and teddynola reacted to this
SydneySleever 104 Posted May 20, 2018 I'm having surgery the same day as you but in Sydney! I know how you feel. I've left everything to the last minute and running around trying to get Vitamins and meals sorted like a mad man! 2 Frustr8 and SallyH reacted to this
browneyez42 280 Posted May 20, 2018 Thanks for all the advice. I’m preparing as much as I can as well. I even took the day off before surgery day in case I need to run any last minute errands. Excited! I did the same thing... that extra day also helped me to relax. You got this! Good luck and let us know how you're doing afterwards.HW: 256SW: 238(4/25/18)CW: 226GW: 165 1 SallyH reacted to this
Miss Topaz 300 Posted May 20, 2018 I also took the day off before (my surgery was on a tuesday, so not going in Monday just seemed to make sense). For the first few days post surgery you'll mainly just drink and sip and sleep , so don't worry too much about pre-preparing food. Most of us did it tho! I made food for my family ahead. If you have any cleaning to do though, good time to do it. You won't be cleaning after surgery. I didn't use much from my hospital bag but phone, charger, and - if you don't already have it, go get Biotene mouth spray. Your mouth will be dry and while you can't drink immediately after surgery it's a lifesaver! 1 SallyH reacted to this

FancyChristine15 810 Posted May 21, 2018 The best advice I can give you would be to follow your doctor's advice. Get up and walk as soon as you can after the surgery. Try to drink the amount of Water you're supposed to drink a few days after. etc... Best of luck to you!
