So, I've just been cleared to go back to Zumba. I'm 2 weeks post op. My Dr told me to push it as hard as I can because the first 3 months will be the majority loss, next 3 months the weight stops falling off, but still good weight loss. I should be near or at my goal by the end of the first 6 months. However, I'm tired after just going for a walk for 30 minutes. Any advice on getting that energy again? I'm meeting my Protein and fluid goals everyday.

get plenty of rest. A full nights rest is very important. Your energy level will increase day by day and as the weight drops it will get easier. Just do all you can and break it up in 20-30 minute sections a few times a day.

The walking is great and in a few weeks add in light weights to maintain muscle tone

good luck

Listen to your body. Go to Zumba but move at a pace you can deal with. If you need to take a break during the class - do. But listen to what your body needs. If you make it through 15 minutes this week, great. Next time, shoot for 20 and ease your way back up. Your body is recovering from surgery and it will take six weeks before the energy really comes back.

I am 8 weeks post sleeve/hiatal hernia repair and it really took me until week 5/6 before my full energy came back. Do what you can and get plenty of rest.

Thanks for the reply. I'll listen to my body and do what I can. It's encouraging to know my energy will come back.

Max out your Water and Proteins each day. And never do anything more than you can. It won't all come back right away, but in time you'll be good to go. I'm frustrated at the gym, I can't lift as much as I could for a few things, but I'm able to do much more fat burn and cardio than I've been able to in more than a decade and a half. Just keep at it and you'll be great!

If your goal is about 100 pounds, I don't think you will get there in 6 months. I think it will take longer. This isnt a sprint, it's a journey/marathon so don't kill yourself trying to lose all of your weight in the first 6 months. That doesn't sound feasible.

Also, I wasn't cleared to exercise until at least 4 weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
