Crazy psychology first week after 1st fill

Recommended Posts

When I made the decision to get banded, I made many future decisions as well. That was the idea. The first month after surgery I slowly recovered, and I could feel the presence of the band, but slowly the eating limitations ease up. I got my first fill, and for this past week have been strangely tired,:notagree I think my mind is trying to say 'oh, you can't eat as much, you need to sleep', I found that I was grateful that my fill wasn't so tight, and I could feel like I can still eat a decent meal. Or my anxiety would be really high. I am very impressed with how I can eat, chew thoroughly, slowly, get full. No drinking. And I am full for several hours. I miss drinking during that time, but I know it's about retraining my habits. It's funny, to set myself up to succeed with the band, and then it strips away some old, familiar, comfortable habits. Thats the part I am feeling, missing. I look forward to hearing if others have similar experiences.:biggrin1:

I had my first fill this week too and was VERY tired all week. I fell asleep on the couch watching tv every night by 9:30 (some nights by 8:00) and had to just get up and go to bed. I didn't know what was causing it but I did forget to take my Flinstones a few days and thought that might be it.

Cheers to you in learning new habits when eating. It is difficult to change the way you have been eating when you have shoved food down your throat all of your life - and I'm speaking of me here.

I am missing the old me too (however, I do realize that the old me was miserable, stuffing myself, eating, feeling bloated) and the reason we miss it, is that it is all we know, until now.

This is a totally life changing experience.

Are you ready? Here we go...

Just wanted to remind everyone that a lack of Protein plays an important role in the amount of energy you have.

Just be sure to continue with the Protein Shakes (whey protein isolate is my fav, especially chocolate Malt or Belgian Chocolate flavor)!!! ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
