Belly binder post-op????

Recommended Posts

Hi all—anyone hear of using a belly binder or compression panty post-op? I’ve never had abdominal surgery, but friends that have had tummy Lipo or c-sections say they were life savers in reducing pain and swelling. Any thoughts?

I think if you are just having keyhole surgery it's not necessary. Just carry a cushion around for the first few days in case you need to sneeze or cough. That was the only time I felt like I needed any support.

Yeah I agree I’ve had a Tummy Tuck and a c section and I can totally see it for those but not necessary for laprascopic surgery like this or my gallbladder.

I was not recommended one but I can see how it helps ease pain/soreness in that if you have a larger abdomen it helps with all the jiggling around that increases soreness/pain.

Yeah, I have horrible seasonal allergies and the thought of sneezing or coughing after my procedure is making me nervous.

That's why I'm packing Rue N.Rabbit to make the journey with me to Columbus with me. I have had an "open" abdominal incision, a right paramedian in 1984, and I KNOW how good it feels to have something to "splint" your sore tummy when you cough or sneeze. I have asthma, I have hay fever so I do my share of both. You'll be laprascopic, almost everyone these days are, my Barbud BiddyNZ in New Zealand no witstanding, but that extra support will feel good and a soft cuddly animal is more fun to carry than a plain old generic pillow. Got my little Rabbitt friend when Wal-Mart was closing out their leftover Easter items, only gave $2 .00 or 2.50 for her. How do I know it was a girl rabbit? Well when I cut off her price and content tags she needed resutured, guess I cut things a little close and she has a C Section scar!
Have a🌈day, put on a big smile😝 and remember SOON WE WILL BE ON THE POST SURGERY SIDE!!!!

Too funny!! Your little rabbit friend is cheaper than a belly band—I’m going to look for a NYC pizza Rat for mine. Lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
