Gained 3lb in 24 hours. Normal?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved March 20th 2018

I've had stalls and sometimea minor gains day to day. But today, a solid 3 lbs. I am 318 now, was 353 at surgery.

Yesterday I was on my diet plan, exceeding fat intake a little and had a soupy shrimp meal near bedtime. During day I was urinating more often than usual. Also, only got 3.5 hours sleep. Would these factors contribute to retaining almost all the food and Water I took in?

food takes 3.5 days to pass through your system, but regardless you can't truly gain 3 pounds in a day. If you are on your diet plan then you are losing weight. Try not to pay so much attention to the quirks of the scale.

Did you eat anything high in sodium. That always does it for me. I can (could) gain 2-3 lb in a day and it would take 4-5 days to burn off the Water retention. It did not change the underlying amount of fat loss though.

Maybe that was it. I got some preprocessed sliced chicken breast. All the ingredients looked good, but I didn't look at the sodium. 4oz is.... 1,160 mg! And been eating that for a a meal or two a day last 3-4 days

It's going in the trash, or rather, to other people as soon as I get home.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
