I have started sampling some Protein here and there and just tried chocolate muscle milk today. I read really good things about it. I found it to be HORRIBLY thick amd sweet even over ice. Is this the normal consistency of the chocolate Protein Shakes or is it just this brand?

Try the different brands and see if you do find one you like. I am chocolate-allergic, I do have the blueberry Muscle Milk, I do find it thick but I thought it was just because it claims to be a yogurt formulation. ,I do have a suggestion , try Svelte, it is soybased but I honestly don't taste the soy in it. I have the French vanilla, my barifriend Little Green has the Cappuccino, I'm sure they have a chocolate as well as other flavors. You do have a lower Protein count per bottle but. I like it and it is a little thinner.Wal-Mart has come out with their house brand Equate, equivalent to Premier Protein in formulation. My local has chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Runs maybe $5.25, Muscle Milk 5.98, Pure Protein about the same and Premier Protein 7.27. Of course Premier also has the most flavors as well chocolate, vanilla, strawberries and cream, Cookies and cream, bananas and cream, peaches and cream( my favorite) and the caramel which makes a lovely Creamer in coffee. Wal-Mart also has in Protein 20 and some other brands of Protein Shakes I haven't tried. I think everybody is trying to get into the bariatric game you can find ones at health food stores, Whole Foods. GNC, I've been looking around , I'm not to the presurgical liquid diet, have been dabbeling trying find the best for me personally. Gosh I want to do so good at this, I. can't reschedule life for later, I'm 72👵 and this is my golden time. PS I'm not grayhaired I have strawberry blonde still, not a gray hair to be found.

I can’t stand muscle milk. I feel the same about it as you do. I like Premier Protein clear with some crystal light in it.

the premier Protein Shakes are good, I just don’t like the chocolate based ones.

Premier Protein isn't thick. It's about the consistency of skim milk.

Thank you. They r actually what I'm planning to try next. As far as clear, I tried Isopure berry flavored and though tolerable (not even close to being as horrible as the muscle milk) I want to try other clears as well. The isopure rtd are too expensive to use solely.

I can only handle the Premier Protein...everything else has been incredibly disgusting.

Agree with everything you said. I bought my daughter a muscle milk as a Meal Replacement. She’s a figure skater and needs to be on the ice at 6:30am on Saturday mornings. Since we have little time for breakfast, I thought this was a good option. She hated it. She forgot about it and left it in her skate bag overnight. The next morning we go to get it out of her bag to pour it down the drain, it had become the consistency of oatmeal!!! Couldn’t even get it out of the container. Thank goodness I didn’t buy a case of them for the liquid diet!

I also am not a fan of the chocolate Premier Protein Shake, but the vanilla and caramel are really good.

Omg, it's so thick. Idk how it can honestly be considered a drink.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
