That's great to hear.... I did mean that question for Kay to be honest... but again, good that your husband is also doing well.

Hi! He is doing great! He is really down about not being able to build his fire pit this year lol. I think he was hoping at 6 weeks he would be cleared to lift, but he found out at his 2 week Post op that from 6-12 weeks he’s restricted to no more than 20lbs, so he is really bummed about that.

Other than that, he is healing up very nicely!

Well I'm sorry about the fire pit, but glad to hear he is doing well. His health and well being is obviously more important... does he have any friends who might be able to help him?

No worries. You still have time. I lived off of ice chips, broth, 98% fat free cream Soups (strained!) and Jello the first week (when I could finally keep fluids down). You won’t need too much but maybe have a variety in case something doesn’t settle well. You’ll do great!!

I'll be putting a little bag together this weekend (surgery is tuesday). Chapstick is on the list. a book. my phone. and my going home clothes. my own fluffy sleeping socks. maybe a small pad of paper and a pen for thoughts and questions. I've asked people to NOT send flowers. I dont want to sneeze! Send me a card instead. or better yet, stop by in a few days and vac my house LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
