Clear Protein leaving a film in mouth?

Recommended Posts

Have any of you experienced this? I have with only clear Protein (juice like) protein. I had it with my sleeve and now my rny but only post-op. Pre-op it left no film.

i tried brushing my teeth and using mouthwash etc but nothing seems to take the film away. When I move my tongue around I can feel it and then I just spit it out.

I had a similar experience with unflavored Protein Powder something about mixing one of the non lemonade ( this makes a bad aftertaste ) propell flavor sticks took it away , that may work for you.

For me, I thought Isopure was horrible for this. UGH! I didn't find it as bad with the other, less concentrated, Protein waters.

I prefer the clear over the Protein Shakes too! I don't have a film, but it takes a while for me to get it down and the ice i put in it thins it out as it starts to melt- maybe that helps?? I am traveling right now and at the airport I tried a Fairlife shake. 26G Protein, 20 carbs and, 150 calories. I know most people would go crazy over that number of carbs- but didn't have a better option. OMG that strawberry and banana Protein Shake was good!!! It was the best one that I have tasted hands down.

I've never seen the Fairlife shakes. Where did you find them?

I also usually use clear Protein waters diluted with both ice and some extra Water. They are just overbearingly sweet.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
