Down 150 since the journey started and 90 since surgery on 11/6/17. Getting ready to go to my 6 month follow up and feeling good. Currently 270 and I’m trying to figure out where to maintain at I’m 6’1 and have big boned. I know the doctors are saying 180-205 but I have not been 205 since I was 14 35 years ago I might look anorexic. I went to the gym and they did one of those test to tell how much muscle you have and it said I’m at 200 pounds of muscle. Any one have any advice on a good weight to stop, currently went from 6x shirts and 54’ pants to 2x and 42’.

I generally let my body determine my bottom weight loss. As I lost weight the rate of weight loss slows down significantly and then it just plateaus and I enter maintenance mode.

Hi, I am similar. I had my sleeve 12/11/17. Was 332 and down to currently 231 and I am 5’7. I used to walk 1.2 miles a day and I am steadily losing but somehow I hit a still and I had to do 0.6 in the morning and 1.2 in the evening. After 2 weeks I feel I hit a stall again. I gained 1 lb today and I found that if I take a day off from walking I will gain 1lb. Is this normal?

I usually walk about 3 Miles at night when working, I am about to start some weight training since I have more energy now. I think 250 May be a good weight to shoot for. One of my DRs told me for some one losing 100 plus pounds you can expect to have about 10-15 pounds of skin. A few weeks ago I pretty much ate any type of food not a lot but just fast food and not real healthy food. And for 2 weeks I lost nothing so I went back to 2 good meals a day and some fruit and Snacks and lost 11 pounds over the last 3 weeks. Now my meals are generally the same I eat chicken 6 days a week and beef tenderloin on Sundays. I eat 6 ounces of meat and 1/2 cup of potatoes or rice, and a 1/2 cup of peas or cream corn. Unfortunately peas and corn are the only veggies I have ever liked so I’m limited there. Also went to smart balance light for butter and stopped seasoning with salt.

Thanks nazz! I am still on my diet except for this weekend I had some unhealthy food due to celebrations at home and I stop loosing for that day probably also I did not do much walking due to body not well. Guess I should walk more and keep to my diet and not stray off to take some unhealthy nibbles of food. I should try to walk 1.2 miles in the morning, another 1.2 miles at night and walk around after lunch. It would take me 40 mins to get 1.2 mile as I was already having issues with walking before my operation. I could not even balance while standing still.

Ya walking was a issue for me before surgery, I have degenerative disc disease so I could only walk about 50 yards before the pain took over that was when I was 420 now at 270 I can walk and very rarely have pain. So it will get easier as you lose more weight.

Enjoyed reading your story, I'm female and starting out approx 100 lbs less but many parts of your story resonate with me. Keep on with everything you're achieving.😝

Hi nazz, I managed to walk 3 miles on treadmil and another 3 during work. I achieved 10,000 steps per day and lose almost 1 lb a day. However when weekend comes I tend to reduce the walking and I gained 1lb today. What do you think? My body gaining Water? I plan to take rest for few days and see what happens. Any one can explain why I gain 1 lb when I exercise less? Will I continue to gain 1lb a day if I do not exercise or will stop at some point?

Weight does seem to fluctuate do to retaining Water or maybe not being regular that are 2 things I have noticed when I should lose weight and don’t. It will also depend on how much u have to lose and how long it’s been since surgery. 1 pound a day is pretty decent weight loss, only time I lost that much was first 3 weeks after surgery atm I’m fluctuating between 2-4 pounds a week, that’s with just walking. I recently got a Fitbit and started using MyFitnessPal since they sync nicely. I’m sure it’s not entirely accurate but from what I’m seeing is I intake 1200-1500 calories a day and lose aprox 3400 calories a day. I try and stay away from junk food and if I eat chips or anything it’s like 4-6 at a time. I prob have about 25 more pounds to lose so it’s slowing some

Hi nazz,
My usual loss before we were talking is 0.4 lb a day and I walked around 2 miles a day. Until last Sunday I gained 1lb and after our discussion, I decided to increase my intensity to 3 miles on the treadmil off work. I also ended up trying to walk during work and I walked around 5+ miles in total during and off work and the result is I lose 1lb everyday during weekdays when I am more active ( active in a sense I will walk to get Water and wash my cup many times resulting around 250 steps at least per hour and I take 2 x 1/2 miles walk around office once after lunch and once during afternoon tea time. I also take stairs up to my office 3 times ). As compared to weekends, I am less active and always lie on the bed thus very much less active. I think this is the reason I gained weight due to lack of activity and water retaining due to lack of activity to lose them as sweat.

So I am s little discouraged this week I gained 1.2 pounds and I was e en drinking more Water I ate 1200-1500 calories a day and using Fitbit it says I burned 26000 calories this week so in reality I should have lost 2-3 pounds. I know Fitbit is not always accurate but I have walked 7-10k steps s day and should be burning 3000 plus calories a day so it’s weird. Something else that’s weird is the Fitbit scale shows me 1.2 pounds higher but body fat percentage went from 30.7 to 30.5.... any ideas

Hi nazz,
I am also having a Fitbit scale and I find the body fat % not that accurate. I think the calories should not go over 1200 or 1300? In fact I am having less then 1000 a day. It could be a stall/plateau too. I took my weight daily which is not advised but I observe my weight will increase for 1-2 days and decrease for the rest of the week, could be Water intake. But recently I discover that within a day, the walks I took in the evening that could burn off the calories I took in the day time , was not effective anymore. What I mean if usually I will also weight myself at the end of the day before my exercise and in the morning when I wake up and usually these 2 measurements will be same or + a little but recently I could see I gained 1 pound when I took my weight after work. So what I do now is that I do my walks in the morning and after work + 3 miles of walking when I am working in office. Like going to wash my cup every time after my drink and my lunch box and short walk ( 0.5 miles or less ) around my work place after lunch and at 4pm during tea break. I will also take the stairs up to my office at 4th floor. This make sure I am active and fat burning through out the day. During my weekends I will do 1.5 mile walk in the morning, then 0.7 mile walk at 11am, another 0.7 at noon , 1.5 mile 1-2 hours after lunch and then another 1.5 mile before dinner. What I am trying to do is to walk after I take meals ( small and main, except dinner ) to burn off the calories. Not sure if it makes sense but it works for me since 1 week ago when I practice this and I lost 3.5 pounds overall last week ( I gained 2.2 pounds 2 days last week so total I should lose 5.7 pounds ). I am not sure if it will continue but I hope so. Generally what I saw on the web , it was advice to either reduce carbo with more Protein food or add some other form of exercise to combat stall/plateau.

Ya i am hoping that im not at a plateau yet but i could be, i feel great best i have felt in 30 years im 6 months out from surgery so i figured 1500 was a good goal and if i burn 2500 in the day i technically should lose 1000 calories a day which is suppose to mean at the end of the week i have lost 7000 calories and that is equal to 2 pounds. It seems that something is not working out right. I dont think the fitbit calories burned is accurate but i had a test done recently that said i burn 2000 a day at rest, so with the walking 7k steps a day that should be good for at least another 500. im not sure whats going on but im gonna try it for another week and see. Some days the fitbit tells me i burn 3800 calories and all im doing is walking and doing stuff around the house so that seems high. I may have to cut out alot of carbs and see how that goes im currently eating about 90-100g of Protein, and about 130-175 carbs a day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
