My 600,pound Life Just Came On Again!

Recommended Posts

At the best I have a Love/Hate response to this show. I like Dr Now, I respect him for the difficult job he does. I'm frightened the steps I am taking with weight loss may not be enough, what if I still got this way. Oh sweet heavens, I'm half-way already there. What if they bloomed out with, fat from something other than excessive calories, what if its a slow acting virus and I have caught it too? What,if I'm not immune? That's the bad thing about fears, even if they are unfounded they still show up.
Its like a bad automobile crash , you want drive by, you know you should drive on, but,no you stop the vehicle, you get out and stand by ,staring ,at the side of the road.
I want to say to people, I don't waddle like that,i can still walk straight, get,up and down by myself, do all my bathroom duties. I keep protesting, but am I only fooling myself?
So,i am left with a oversized, bundle of ambivalence, am I l really like Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerer's Apprentice trying to sweep away a flood with a teeny tiny broom?

Frustr8,

I have had all of those feelings about that show, plus some. I started watching it for inspiration and as a way to keep me motivated to do what I need to do. Not sure how much I need it now other than reinforcement.

I'm 4 years out and have always enjoyed the show for the most part. I enjoy watching the episodes where the people succeed and not so much the ones who are just taking advantage of this free surgery.

I also always encourage people to go to YouTube and watch a British show called Fat Doctor. To me it's better than 600 lb life, and actually shows a lot of the surgical procedure. There used to be many more episodes, but there are still over a dozen quality episodes.

I enjoyed the Fat Doctor and was disappointed there wasn't a fifth (?) season. Dr Shaw Somers came across as the most caring doctor. I don't have access to 600lb life.

Not a great deal of loss, more pathos to this US show, saw Fat Ward once at neighbors think I prefer it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
