I took one week off, worked from home for a second week, and went back. I was a pretty out of it at first though.

I initially scheduled 2 weeks but ended up taking 3. Honestly, I could have taken 4 just to give myself time to adjust mentally. I did not feel like interacting with anyone and was still feeling nauseated quite a bit. Also, if you are starting back on regular food you may need to see what you can tolerate. But everyone is so different you may bounce back very quickly.

At least 3-4 weeks. Its not the pain management its the exhaustion, weakness, and if your only tolerating 250 calories a day how can you possibly have good mental function. 1 gm of Protein equals 4 calories, so even if your up to 40gms of Protein that's only 160 calories. Plus if your working the demands of the day your not concentrating of getting in fluids and Protein. Job performance can not be good when your mentally sluggish. You need to conserve the Protein intake for wound healing in the beginning . I had a few small complications and actually DR. wanted me out for 6 weeks but went back at 4.5 weeks. Good Luck

I had my physician return to work note for 2 weeks. Had surgery Monday and went back the following Monday for a half day and worked a couple of other days the second week partial days then returned full time after 2 weeks. I was seriously exhausted and am on my 3rd week post op and still struggling with being tired but am doing good being back to work. Good luck!

Well I'm not a office worker but I was a repossessor and kind of against doctor's advice I went back to work full-time a week after my operation but I do typically heal fast and I felt pretty comfortable with it but in hindsight I probably should took another week but it worked out but I don't recommend that listen to what the doctor says and just take it easy

I originally took two weeks off. I went in to work on the following Monday and felt weak and exhausted. My boss actually looked at me and told me to take another week off, because I was apparently quite pale. I gladly took the third week off and it made all the difference.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
