Briswife15 890 Posted May 8, 2018 So, I new here, and doing lots of reading of posts, and have discovered one unpleasant side effect of gastric bypass, namely the malodorous flatulence. I'm still trying to decide between RNY and sleeve, but having lifelong smelly gas may be the dealbreaker for me!! Does the gas go away???Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
James Marusek 5,244 Posted May 8, 2018 It is manageable. You can always duck into a restroom.
Apple203 1,314 Posted May 8, 2018 I don't have malodorous gas, but I am more gassy than before surgery and damn if I don't burp after I eat, as others have reported.
Sadiebug 206 Posted May 8, 2018 I do use GasX more frequently than before surgery - but it's completely manageable and hasn't impacted my life at all. It really depends on what I eat too so I've learned what causes the most problems and if I chose to eat that sort of stuff I just make sure I'm among friends.
