Hello everybody!!! My surgery is next Monday (05/14) and I’m starting to feel nervous. I don’t know if it’s part of the excitement. How are some of you handling your emotions?

Breathe! Make sure you have everything you'll need post op and for your hospital stay. Its normal to be excited and nervous, just take it one day at a time. You'll be joining us on the loser's bench soon.

My surgery is on the 15th and I am very excited. A little nervous as it is surgery, but more excited to get it done! I have been focusing on my pre op diet and making sure I have everything I need for when I come home. Just look at how many people have done this- you can too!

Yes! I can’t wait to start the next step of this journey. Trying to keep busy cleaning and shopping for all the things I need post-op. Thank you.

That’s what keeps me motivated, all the people that have done it. Good luck!

I’m two days pre-op and I am feeling crazy nervous right now. I have been good so far but every time someone asks me if I’m ready and tells me it’s life changing, I feel like I want to vomit.

I am 2 days before surgery but I have mixed emotions. I am nervous because I worry about complications because I am a VSG to RNY revision. But I am excited because I am one step closer to starting this new journey

Everybody is trying to be reassuring around me, but the closer it gets the more nervous I get also....

That’s what I worry most about, the complications post-op.

I’m going for VSG on Thursday!!! It literally just sunk in that when I wake up tomorrow, the surgical preparations begin! I can’t believe it! Right now I’ve moved past the nervous stage right into the LETS DO IT NOW stage of excitement! [emoji23] But we’ll see what I’m thinking tomorrow night when it’s time to try and get 8 hours of sleep! Ha!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
