Anyone NOT lose their hair?

Recommended Posts

I didn't lose hair. It grows at a much shorter rate, and I think it's thinner than it used to be, but I didn't lose any.

Actually, I did "lose" a massive square of belly hair that they shaved off for the surgery (which I didn't learn until afterwards).

Many people experience hair loss. For many people their Hair loss stops when they reach the maintenance phase and they experience hair restoration. Some individuals mention that the texture of their hair changes after recovery. I did not experience hair loss. But I use a product called Juvenon, which is available over the internet. It helps to keep my mitochondria healthy.

My dad used to take that when he had cancer, he said it gave him quite a boost after chemo as well

My sister had VSG a couple years ago and never experienced Hair loss but she was on point with eating a nutrient rich diet and a taking supplements.

I lost lots of hair after having both of my babies. It was annoying but not to the point where my hair was obviously thinning. The regrowth is the annoying part. I hope that if I do lose hair when I get my VSG in a couple weeks its on the same level as that or less.

I have very very thick hair! I have always shed hair a bit. I have not noticed any difference in my hairs thickness and still get it thinned out when I get my haircut. My Protein and Vitamins are on point though and have been since day 1.

I have not had my procedure yet and I go through periods of Hair loss because of my crohns and malnutrition from that. I found that monta hair products are awesome and my hair has grown back thicker and wonderful. FYI I do not sell the stuff lmao. But it is so pricey I spend $100 on Shampoo and conditioner and another $100 on Vitamins. It is worth every penny. I was so sceptical at first but now I am mot

My surgery was April 25. I've had the same hair stylist for the last 20 years. I informed her I was having surgery and to expect some hair loss. This was taken yesterday and my hair is growing and is very healthy. I also get my hair washed, treated and styled every two weeks religiously. I don't even own a comb or brush [emoji53]20160624_192248.thumb.jpg.83246e01b3ae584d6ad773aa1f69b423.jpg

dont want to worry you but most people report loss starting 3 months out. Only a few lose immediately idk why and even fewer can claim no loss at all.

My Hair loss didn’t start until 4 months post-op. If you’re one of the very lucky few that doesn’t happen to, then I envy you. I will be 6 months post-op Monday and my hair is still falling out. I take Biotin and Protein and Vitamins everyday.. it’s just part of the process

If it happens, we'll deal with it. If it doesn't happen, I'm good. I just look at things differently. Thanks for the information.

Seems like you have a bit of an attitude. You can look at them however you want.. I went thru my 3rd month post-op and thought I was one of the lucky ones that beat it, but I was wrong. My hair dresser has been doing my hair for 25 years and I have always had very very thick, long and healthy hair.. now I have thinned and dull looking hair. No matter how many grams of Protein, bitoin and Vitamins and Water you are taking in a day, is not going to stop it if it’s going to happen. I have been taking Biotin for years and 3 months before surgery I was taking in 70-100 grams of protein. I still never get less than 70 a day and my hair is falling out. Like I said, it’s part of the process. No need to have an attitude with people that are telling you what to expect.

I don't have an attitude. I thanked you for the information. I just tend to look at things differently.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
