sugar free Jello, chicken broth. For the 3 first days.

Pick up your post op medications.

Do not use any different medication!!!

if you drink Water and walk you will not have gas neither Constipation. Doctor gave me medication if I do not have bowel movement (docusate sodium 100mg) and Ondansetron HCL 4mg if I have nausea).

I bought so much stuff that I tried before surgery and my taste buds changed. I didnt like half the stuff I bought. Just make sure to buy things u cant go wrong with such as jellos and sugar free pops. I like others, didn't have problrms with gas or anything because I did eay more than expected in walking. Good luck on ur journey and message me if u have any questions.

Abdominal binder! I wore it about a week at home too. I bought one, but i came out of the OR with one on. But definitely helps keep your tummy from not moving so much

A very good tip- I'm filing it in my "What To Do" column in my journal for my own surgery!👍😜

I had my surgery in November. Are you getting the sleeve? The best advice I’m going to give you is to drink your Water, stay away from sick people, and make sure you’re walking and following your diet plan. I did all those things but my surgery was in the heart of the sick season and I ended up getting sick and almost dying. Just be aware what’s around you and what your putting into your body. And you can do this. You’ll be great!

Are you on your liquid diet yet? If not,do you have a starting date? What kind do you think you'll be using? I've tried several different ones so far, my favorite Premier Protein Peaches and Cream.😝

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
