I’ve posted about how GREAT I felt after surgery, and I really did! Until I got home. I’ve been trying walk, drink slowly, take meds regularly, but I’m in pain. Last night I threw up for the first time which surprisingly wasn’t too bad, pain wise, and it showed me how small my stomach must be.

I’m looking for insight in the pain, when did you turn the corner and feel better? Any advice?

Thanks :)

Tylenol w/ codine worked for me. I’ve been easing off since last night. Sorry to hear you’re in pain. Pain was severe in hospital, but each day gets better.

I’m only consuming 1 tablespoon of any liquid at a time; then wait 30 secs and have another. It’s incredibly slow but I’ve had no problems thus far.

Hope this helps. The liquid Tylenol has been excellent and super helpful. While in-hospital I had dilaudid, which made me loopy but was effective.

Dilaudid was a life saver in the hopsital! I came home with some serious pain. I was barely able to do anything. The pain is muuuuch better today. It starting getting better about 9 days post op. I think what helped the pain was increasing my activity and Water intake. I now experience some discomfort and very little pain in my stomach, which is to be expected, I believe.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
