I find myself doing a lot of research before I buy anything. I feel very happy with my latest haul. What have you bought or plan to get to better prepare yourself for this journey?

I also got my new oversized sweats to leave the hospital in.

So far I have bought my kitchen scale, New measuring cups, small 4 oz containers to prepare and freeze portions of Soups etc. A vitamix blender, a mini chopper. I bought sampler packs of Protein Drinks from 2 different companies. A few 4 packs of different brands and flavors of ready to drink Protein. Silicone molds for broth and soups. Still have a list of items to pick up (overkill, I know) Oh and 2 books.

Wowzers lol i thought I went overboard but you have everyyyuthing. I need to get something to turn meat into purée but I can’t imagine eating meat the consistency of purée. I might add a scoop of unflavored protein to a jar of baby food but that’s as far as I may go 🤢

Yes gotta love Amazon. What stage are you in? Have you gotten your date yet? I feel like I'm frazzled and not able to focus on the things I should be.

I can’t believe I’m saying this because I’ve wanted this so bad that it seems like a vivid dream but I already got my date May 14th and this is my 4th day on the liquid diet [emoji123][emoji51]

Are you still going through your clearances?

I’ve got a case of the Optifast ready to drink shakes, baby cups, plates, bowls and silverware, unflavored Unjury powder, hail nail and skin Vitamins. I already have fun measuring spoons and cups and an immersion blender. My doc gave me Vitamin samples to try after surgery since things will taste different and they don’t want me to buy things I won’t like later. Cases of bottled Water, boxes of crystal light and broth out the wazoo. [emoji23] I’m skipping the scale for now. After a year of nutritional visits (and a lifetime of dieting) I know what 3oz looks like. I’ve also already had my pcp and psychiatric doc call in all my non weight related meds that I’ll keep taking in either the ODT or liquid form. My doc also provides a huge binder with everything you could possibly want to know about anything and since I’ve been going through it compulsively for 18 months, I feel like I’m covered. I’m not sure if there’s anything else I need. Well, I can’t think of anything anyway. I’ve also got the great Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book and I’ve been tracking everything on the Baritastic app.
If I’m missing anything you guys think is crucial, please let me know, cause surgery is Thursday. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
