Hello everyone!! I just got banded on Jan 5, 2005. I researched the band for several years prior and finally took the plunge just about two weeks ago. I struggled my whole life with obesity and the constant yo-yo syndrome. I was very fortunate to have the procedure and all aftercare covered by my insurance. I'm doing quite well and have my first follow up this Wed. I thought it would be nice to have some support out there so I discovered this site and have spent hours reading through. Thank you everyone for your posts. I was especially interested in learning more about the fills, since I've not experienced that yet. Thanks again!

Welcome! There are a couple of different threads on fills. If you go to the search button and enter fills, it should take you to them.

Each doctor is different as to the amount of fill and when they fill.

I have had two fills, I didn't feel any restriction with the first one, the second is showing me some.

Neither one of my fills hurt at all, although I did get a brusie with each of them.

Healthy, do a "search" for Ticker Tape Thing....it's a detailed thread about making the ticker tape. Hope this helps. If I can figure it out (with a lot of help), anyone can!!

Welcome, welcome, welcome! So glad you found us. I love this site. I stopped visiting the other ones when I found this one. We will help you any way we can. And if you post, you'll help us, too. Even after 16 months I still learn from everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
