Colon/gas left side pain

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, I had lapband surgery to gastric sleeve and ive been having cramping. I’m not sure what it is because its left side pain and its it may be attributed to the bowel, trapped gas.I mean it sounds funny but theres got to be an explanation. If anyone has any idea lmk.

I have gas pains as well and I'm 10 days post op gastric bypass. It sucks and it's painful. The best advice I was given and the only thing that will really help is to walk more.

I have gas pains as well and I'm 10 days post op gastric bypass. It sucks and it's painful. The best advice I was given and the only thing that will really help is to walk more.

I too was told to walk walk walk. However I injured my back two weeks after surgery and have not been able to. I find the slower I eat the better I feel. If I have any gas pain, I chew A Gas-X and it goes away quickly. I'm a month out now and I don't have the gas as much as I did. I have developed better habits as far as eating slower and very very small bites that I chew a lot. Also I had severe Constipation from the pain medication due to my back. This really was difficult. But I'm past that now no more pain meds. I'd rather have the back pain.

Besides walking make sure you lie FLAT when down. Also, I used a heating pad on my tummy. I swear that's the worst part of the surgery and the most painful. Mine finally passed on day 5-6. Good and well wishes to you! Xoxo

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
